Girls Education in Pakistan , Problematic Factors
A sad factor
Pakistan is one of those countries where no attention has been given to
education like many other sectors and fields.
Due to this governmental lack of interest, many children who should go to school,
they cannot go to schools. The very situation becomes bad to worse with regards
girl education.
Poverty a major factor
Many parents, who are living from hand to mouth, are unable to send their
children to schools because they cannot afford their educational expenditures.
In this regard, government is unable to cooperate such people.
What report says?
A recent survey conducted by Human Rights Watch (HRW) reveals the truth
that the biggest hindrance on the way of imparting education to the girls is
low numbers of schools. As per report about 25 million children, in Pakistan,
are deprived from school education, among them the majority is of girls.
No proper roads to schools
In Pakistan there are some remote areas. If there are one or two schools,
there are no proper roads going to these schools. The students have to traverse
these difficult and rocky path by foot. It becomes very difficult for the girls
to go to schools or for the parents to send their children to schools.
Girls’ interest
In this survey, many girls have been interviewed by the officials of HRW. In
this survey, the girls showed their interest in going to schools but they
cannot join the schools due to lack of facilities.
Gender discrimination
Mostly parents think it a taboo to send their girls to schools. If they
want to provide any education, they want to send their sons, not the daughter,
to schools. These parents are against girl’s education. These parents, if willing,
cannot send their daughters in such schools where co-education is being imparted.
It becomes very difficult for the government to build separate institutions
both for the boys and the girls as well.
Solution
Government should focus this problem. It should increase education budget.
Public awareness should be raised especially in remote areas of Pakistan.
