Low literacy is a worldwide problem,efforts are being made to increase the present poor literacy rate.
UNESCO marks 8th September every year as a Literacy Day.This day is celebrated with full passion and enthusiasm to wipe out poor literacy rate and to enhance Literacy rate globally especially in the developing countries.
UNESCO is playing a pivotal role in this regard and is trying to increase literacy working with different governments,NGOs and local communities.First literacy day was organized in 8th September 1966 and this flows till date.
International literacy Day is a day to remind world leader,influencers,and the general public of currents status of adult literacy and learning.UNESCO s' slogan is 'Literacy is the best remedy' a right of every one to education.
For September 2018,the theme of international Literacy Day is "Literacy and Skills Development" and UNESCO promises to give rewards of excellence to instill passion for imparting good skills and education to kids and the adults.
